Oh what a day….

Oh what a day….

The Lions clubs of Derwent, Minster and Selby were delighted to raise funds for the York Multiple Sclerosis Society by hosting their Annual Summer Charity Event at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick.
In the afternoon the audience were delighted by Tread the Boards inspiring ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ followed by Evolution Dance’s enchanting ‘Dancing through the Kaleidoscope’. The raffle was kindly provided and run by our local Co-op Community team.
In the evening, guests were welcomed by canapes and table magic performed by the talented Josh Benson. Josh then opened the evening show with an impressive comedy and magic session, to be followed by entertaining Evolution Dance routines delivered by more mature dancers. Selina Dakin then showed her talent by signing some modern songs plus some she had written herself for her both her acoustic guitar and piano. After Selina, the Rock Choir took the stage and were well received by an attentive audience. After the intermission, our regulars the popular Barton Brass Band didn’t disappoint and soon had our guests stamping their feet to a wide range of entertaining music including a fantastic arrangement of The Greatest Showman. They then concluded the evening with rousing patriotic Proms music, with our audience stomping and waving their flags in appreciation.

All in all, an excellent event and Anita from the Multiple Sclerosis Society was delighted to accept our ‘large cheque’ donation of £3000 which we hope to outturn (tbc).

The Lions Clubs of Derwent, Minster and Selby would like to thank and acknowledge the following organisations and people who helped make the event possible:
